The lifeless body of an unidentified man has been recovered from the Health Center cell in Busamaga ward in Mbale City Industrial division. According to residents, the deceased individual is believed to be a non-local, possibly in his late 50s.
Tom Makwasi, a resident of the area, recounted that the deceased met his end after allegedly being caught stealing birds. The manner in which his body was found, with two cockerels tied to it, suggests a possible connection to the suspected bird theft.
Rogers Taitika, the Mt. Elgon region police spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying that the body has been transported to the Mbale City mortuary for postmortem examination.
Taitika cautioned residents against vigilantism, urging people not to take the law into their own hands. He said those responsible for any crimes will be apprehended as ongoing investigations continue.
